“Feed your head” – Jefferson Airplane
In 1963 there was an eerie calm on the surface of popular music. Just below the musical terrain, something was starting to gain momentum…and volume. The cool kids were well aware of what this strange musical sensation was all about. They called it…”The Sound of the Underground”.
“Those who wander, aren’t necessarily lost” – J.R.R. Tolkien
LiVE 88.5 is proud to present “The Sound of The Underground”, a show dedicated to the bands and musicians that toiled in the musical sub terrain. These artists fearlessly honed their craft and forged new musical ground in a hostile surface world. Jim Hurcomb, a veteran broadcaster and Ottawa musician celebrates the music and artists from the 60’s and 70’s who paved the way for Punk Rock and Alternative Music. Bob Dylan, The Beatles, David Bowie, The New York Dolls, The Clash and scores of other ground breaking artists are featured and honoured for their musical contributions.
“Yesterday’s just a memory, tomorrow is never what it’s supposed to be” – Bob Dylan
